I once built what I called an M234:

M2, no self timer, lever rewind, with M3 viewfinder and M4 takeup spool.

I painted it black.

Will look to see if I have any photos of it, but from the outside it's just an M2; not much Franken. :)

I also have a M2 (button version) with a M3 0,91 viewfinder !

This below is a 1955 M3 turned into a single stroke by adding a M2 counter mechanism :

The formerly dead M3 prism was rebuilt and the camera painted by Enzo aka Patagonean 🌞

Wow, some interesting cameras here. Mine is only the mildest of Frankenleicas: I have a black chrome M6 with 0.85 viewfinder. I traded the original baseplate (and some cash) for a baseplate with the lock that can open and close the old brass Leitz film cassettes. I've got nine of 'em, and I roll my own film usually, so now I can use them with my M6 as well as my M3.

You have a dead M9 and want to take the viewfinder and install in an M4? I would ask DAG if this is possible.

Someone's been keeping this puppy going for 93 years. Along the way it acquired a new winding mechanism and a new viewfinder - both seemingly from a doner Leica II. Still a working camera today
