I recently self cleaned lense which got slight surface rust on aperture blades. Most likely from laying in humid basement for a long time.

I took off all aperture blades, cleaned them with IPA and they ended up pretty good.

But it does not protect them from further rust in future. I couldn't find any materials how their surface could be refinished properly.

Hot blueing? Cold bluing? Both processes require oiling which is something we usually get rid off from blades during cleaning. Any thoughts?

I really don’t know but I‘d rather like to have slightly oily aperture blades than rust (on non automatic apertures off course).
