CCD Sensor Compacts

I picked up a CCD sensor compact digital on a whim and I've been having a lot of fun with it. Anyone else still enjoying these in 2022?

The look of the images reminds me of my film days. It's a nice break from the hyperrealistic images I get from my Leica Q or Nikon D750.

Honestly, I’ve never been able to tell the difference between CCD images and CMOS, though I guess there is because others have lauded the older CCD imagery.

For CCD I have an 8 MP Konica-Minolta DiMAGE X1 and a 10 MP Pentax K-10D. For CMOS, I have a D700 and an X-Pro1. I’ve made nearly the same photos of my house, yard, and neighborhood with all these cameras and the images from them all look the same in terms of color, contrast, saturation, whatever.

Film, however…

I have an old Sony DSC S70 Cybershot which has great images. Baby's Breath, Coxcomb and Marigolds.

Thank you. Canon S95. I had to tinker with the settings to get these colours. It has a lot of potential, but right out of the box it can produce flat looking images.

Canon S90 - 10 megapixels. Size of a pack of cigarettes. 28-105mm optical FL - f/2.0 (W) - f/4.9 (T). Still have it. Should shoot with it more:

I have a Canon S90, how have I never got these kinds of colours before?? Must dig it out and see what can be done.

I still have a couple of Fujifilm Super CCD cameras that never really took off back in its days but renders colors like no other. Particularly the Fujifilm S5 Pro with its exceptional dynamic range. Also picked up a Leica M9 recently that has a unique sensor to say the least

I still use a Lumix LX-5 with a 10 MP CCD sensor. So much in such a small package.

I have my eye on an S5 Pro. Have you used any Nikon lenses with it? I shoot paid stuff with a D750 and I'm eager to use my F mount glass with this sensor...

Sorry for the delayed response. Yes I use Nikon lenses with it. Particularly liking the Nikon 55mm 2.8 Micro on it. The body is as intuitive as any Nikon DSLR with the benefit of the Super CCD sensor. Albeit a bit slow at computing. I wouldn't be surprised if this particular camera would increase in price in the future.

Edit: It also provides full functionality with my SB800 flash unit i.e TTL. Fabulous combo really

GRD and GRDIII.

Not only CCD, but from those rare cameras which feels nice to hold. Plus f1.9 and small sensor.
GRD III not "for them I want CCD" it is most easy to use and totally sufficient camera for the street and dogs photography.
