There have been comments about how [ not ] to collapse a collapsible !
I have several cool black faced Mika Mouse fake Elmars [ from Mika in exUSSR with georgeous if fanciful Leica Likes ]
I made a collar out of thick upholstery felt , and one from a leather sample ,
cut to length [ careful , it likes to stretch ! Trim gradually to circumference , tape on the underside of one side and press the other onto the tape .
Eventually , one of mine will be permanently altered , but it's easily removed - to replace add new tape .
Looks cool too .
A good source of leather / vinyl is an old wallet from a Charity / Thrift shop .
But being an Inferior Designer , I scrounge free samples .

I use one of these that I made out of a polypropylene tube cut to length, it is almost invisible in use and stays on by itself. The tube is split.
