I need to date a few Nikon S & C lenses but Google doesn't come up with anything definitive. Anyone know of a chart that lists serial numbers by year in the 1950s?
TIA!

Nikkor RF lenses are bad dates, they can't even carry a conversation.
Sorry for that. Here's a handy webpage that may have some useful information for you, though it's not quite by year. http://www.photosynthesis.co.nz/nikon/lenses.html#RF_Wide

That website is a great compilation, and also a good source of information is Robert Rotoloni's The Complete Nikon Rangefinder System. You may get more clues on the year or year range of your RF Nikkors.

Did you say Nippon Kogaku
There are some tell tale signs to date a Nikon Rangefinder lens.
For example, early examples are engraved Nippon Kogaku Tokyo, this was changed to Japan.
The serial numbers can also help in dating the lens.
Lenses were produced in black last few years of production, so that can be helpful as well.
