Exhibition
Sixth Leica/CCP Documentary Photography Award

Opens: 6pm Wednesday 8th October

The Sixth Leica/CCP Documentary Photography Award is a showcase of Australia’s best contemporary documentary photographers. The sixteen finalists chosen bring together diverse views of the human experience, ranging from war photography to quiet observations on the streets of Beijing. Since its inaugural tour in 1997, this biennial exhibition continues to support documentary photography, a task of increasing importance as our definition and interest in the real rapidly evolves. The artists selected for exhibition are Michael Amendolia, James Brickwood, Cara Bowerman, Anthony Dawton, Stephen Dupont, Sean Hobbs, Jesse Marlow, Natalie McComas, Matthew Newton, Laki Sideris, Steven Siewert, Doug Spowart and Victoria Cooper, Emma Thomson, Tamara Voninski, Tom Williams and Lisa Wiltse. Sponsored by Leica, the Sixth Leica/CCP Documentary Photography Award was exhibited at the Centre for Contemporary Photography from 7 September to 27 October 2007. The winner of the Award, Stephen Dupont, was announced on the opening night of the exhibition, with an honorable mention for Laki Sideris.
