Fixing the Contax T3 film spool tooth

That tooth is fragile. To avoid shearing it in the first place, retension the film before loading (manually turn the spool backward).

Good advice! Slack in the film is what really increases the risk of breakage.
 
Here is what I do with the T3. First mark the position with the film in place. Drill a small (1.5mm) hole in the spool. Take a headless screw from an old junk camera (fastening screw for the scale will fit) and carefully screw it in until you have two mm sticking up from the spool. It will last forever.

Use plastic weld, found in hardware stores. Dap a bit where the tooth was . Wait 30 minutes, file to shape. Mines been going strong for the last 8 years. Better than original tooth.
