No, I'm not in the wrong forum. I won an auction on what I could classify as a "project" Yashica Electro M5. It's missing the accessory shoe, and the lens looks like it has popped loose from a drop. Will take a bit of work to get it back in working order.

This is one rare Yashica, on par with Minister 700. Wish you getting it in shape not needing replacing parts.

Well, it showed up today. And it has definite drop damage.

Filter ring bent.
Lens barrel crooked.
Rewind knob bent.
Winding lever bent.
Top cover has dent on one end.
Hot accessory shoe missing.
Shutter release mechanism not functioning properly.
Needs light seals.
Rangefinder is off by a couple of feet on close distances.

But, the good news is the lens looks good, no scratches.

I didn't know there was such extensive use of aluminum in the camera covers, top and bottom. And that filter ring dent will be easy to pound out. The covering is in good shape and the battery well is nice and clean. I put in a new A544, and the Battery Check light works. No Over-Under indicators come on in the viewfinder though, but that may be due to the damaged lens barrel.

It's going to be a project for sure.
