From other thread I found out this guys is making a 8x10 version! exiting news really.

4x5 is my current largest format I shoot, won't call myself artist but there is just something to the size of the negative that is really appealing...

I stopped at 4x5 mainly due to the economy of the setups, anything bigger (8x10) forward seems to be getting a lot more expensive (the lens, the holder, the tank, the film, the scan, the print, the weight, etc)

My journey was along the line of digital -> 35mm -> half-frame -> 4x5, and rotate them according to the weather. I wonder how many actually starts big (8x10?), then move on to smaller format along the way?

On another note, I don't recall Ansel Adams actually shoot smaller format film is he not?

Nice price. Been looking forward to this release for a while. They are even making their own 8x10 film holders (huge relief given how heavy and expensive 8x10 holders usually are).

From Edward Weston book.

the jump from 4x5 -> 8x10 is not insignificant. I'd say its exponential...costs, weight etc.. Rewards can be worth it though, hard to say. ymmv

You can buy only the camera and use standard film holders. They felt it was difficult to source inexpensive film holders for 8x10.

Whether I back this particular camera or not I will probably try out their film holders anyway. I typically buy old ones and refurbish them as necessary. It might feel nice to actually have a couple of new ones that don't need any work. :)
