Several threads on the Rangefinder Forum have mentioned John Botte, a now retired NYPD detective who is an avid and accomplished photographer, probably the only cop to do a number of assignments for Rolling Stone. This is the first RF thread.

But Botte is best known for his pictures of 9/11. Initially arriving with the commissioner and then assigned to document 9/11 and the aftermath, he had both unique access and talent. And out of that came a book, “Aftermath: Unseen 9/11 Photos by a New York City Cop.
Now, here’s something totally unexpected. John Botte is selling a Leica MP on Cameraquest. So what? Everybody sells cameras. Not like this one. This MP never got near the World Trade Center. This camera may have never taken a picture. But it will make collectors’ hearts beat a little faster and, hopefully, supplement a cop's retirement income. Read on.
