Kodak Signet 35 - Best Value in Classic 35??

Forget the style, forget the lens, forget the RF, the coolest, baddest thing was the the slide rule on the back. With this you could compute exposure for any condition. Throw away your light meters, just carry the Signet 35 along with your M3.

That is a cool contraption.

Three sliders-seven scales (per my count):
  1. f/Stop Scale (on rule)
  2. Shutter Speeds Scale/Slider + Light Condition Scale
  3. Subject Luminance Scale/Slider + Kodak Film type Scale
  4. Film Indicator/Hash Mark (on rule)
  5. Day/F (Flash) indicator Tab Slider

KODAK SIGNET 35 FLASH ALERT

If you are planning to buy a Signet 35 and use flash with it, cameras serial number 174091 and earlier have bulb M sync only. Cameras serial number 195155 and later are engraved "M-F-X" by the flash connector post and sync accordingly. If it matters, ask about the engraving before you buy. Lest anyone go insane looking for the serial number I'll give you a hint: pull up the rewind knob.

As previously noted, the shutters get sticky and the finders get hazy but are not that hard to fix if you are into amateur repair.
