Wondering if there’s much experience out their with this 1997 limited edition lens.

Can it be collapsed into a digital M?

good lens. mine started to have "some play" around the barrel, not sure why.
really enjoyed using the lens.
yes, it can be safely collapsed into a digital M.

I had one which I used with a film M. I loved the images it produced but it had a bit of wobble and didn't get that much more compact when collapsed. Ultimately I switched to the Elmar-M for compactness.

Nice lens, very sharp, with very slightly lower contrast than the Elmar. Not as well made, as there is a bit of wobble. Doesn’t seem to affect the image quality though.

It is a very sharp lens. Roland wrote about its incredible sharpness in a RFF thread, so I bought one. It feels well built (in my lens at least).

I own the first version Elmar 50/2.8. I like using it too.
You mean the Elmar, right?

I do not have the second version Elmar (that many have praised).
I was curious, so I bought the Hexanon. Both lenses are wonderful to own and use.

Not everything is about sharpness.
