Leica CL

Hello all!

I was looking at an absolutely beautiful Leica CL a few days ago. The problem was, I tried focusing it… and I got a contrast spot. That is it. The store person told me that, “well you focus it till the viewfinder is clear”.

Doesn’t the CL have a double image finder?

It never did "clear", did it? The store person is obviously clueless, and in a most self-serving way, too! Yes, the CL has a regular coincident rangefinder. Which in that camera may be stuck...

As you focused the lens, and you "got a contrast spot", I gather you didn't see what you expected. Could you describe in more detail what you expericenced?

I suppose you could speak with someone more knowledgeable at the store... maybe arrange a guarantee that would cover any needed repair. Or negotiate a reduced "as-is" price. But it sure would be helpful to get a better handle on the problem, and an idea of repair cost first.

Figured as much.

Actually, periodically the contrast spot would dissappear... but it never had anything in it. I may talk to the son (who owns the shop I think).
