Grey finish Leica IIIc and IIIcK without military markings

Within approximate serial number range 387501-392000 Leitz Wetzlar manufactured grey paint finish Leica IIIc and IIIcK.

Deliveries were made to individuals, dealers, scientific/research/technical institutes, embassies, medical clinics, and schools. Any destination deemed essential to the German military/industrial complex became a customer.

These Leicas carried no military engravings.

After the German capitulation in May 1945 most Leica production went to the Allied Occupation Forces (U.S.Army). U.S.Army personnel, the Amerik.Armee, U.S.Armee, U.S.Army, and Army Exchange Service (A.E.S.)
are present in the handwritten delivery ledgers preserved at Leica Germany.

Thank you, Jim, I usually have a coated Summar on this one. The camera works very good. I've always thought that it was used professionally in the DDR or in another communist country.

Greetings,

Erik.

Hello Philip,

You might get better feedback, and a quicker response if you email Jim. If you need Jim’s email let me know and I will PM you. I don’t think Jim hangs out at RFF much anymore.

I’m sure he will be interested in your IIIcK and lens. He will probably look it up in the archives and provide you with a lot of additional information. He loves hearing about new found wartime IIIcK’s.

Can you provide pictures ?. Love to see your camera & lens. Thanks.
