The Leica Store in San Francisco was robbed on Saturday...

178K worth of camera equipment stolen in armed robbery at San Francisco store

Isn’t this the second time the SF store was burglarized? Terrible news, it must be so demoralizing for the shopworkers.

Jokes aside, it was inevitable in that location.

I don't know about "inevitable in that location" ... there are a lot of high end stores near Union Square in SF, the Leica Store is just one, and not in a particularly nasty spot. SF has not been a particularly "dangerous" city, although some neighborhoods have their share of crime.

And yes, my thoughts go to the employees and the owner of the franchise.

A Note From The Leica Store San Francisco Team

As many of you are aware, Leica Store San Francisco experienced an armed robbery on the afternoon of Saturday, November 26, 2022. While we are extremely grateful that no one was physically injured, all of us feel that some time is needed for the staff to fully process this traumatic event and have an opportunity to decompress.

Currently, we are planning to reopen on Monday, December 5, 2022. Appointments will not be required, but will be appreciated as we resume operations. During this time Leica Store San Francisco is assessing all means on how best to implement measures and security protocols to ensure the security and safety of our Team, the store, and the guests who visit.

Everyone at Leica Store San Francisco would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to our customers, the photo community, and the Leica Family during these most difficult of days. We are extremely grateful for your outpouring of care, support, and empathy.

Most sincerely,

Sean, Diana, Sam, Alex, Carlo, Sal, and Wayne
