I have a new to me Leica M6 classic with a Voigtlander 35mm f/1.4 lens. I was attempting to focus on a flagpole that was about .10 mile away.
I was unable to get the patch in alignment. The imposed image was a little to the right even when the lens was focused all the way to infinity. It never focused past, it didn't get to the image.
Am I correct in the thought that the alignment is probably off with the camera?

sure sound like it is off. I would return the camera if I where you (if possible) or get a partial refund to send it to a tech. Alignment or a CLA would take about $200 to $300.

Do you have another lens to check as well? If a different lens is off as well, that pretty much means the camera is off.
