Mac computers and Nikon program

I've got another question for the forum. Nikon sent along a CD with my D7000 which is intended to allow me to access and work with their NEF/RAW files. I have read elsewhere that the program tends to cause computers to crash. I have a brand new Macbook Pro, and I would like to be able to install the program and use it.
What has been other members experience with this CD? Does it cause Mac computers to crash? Or should I just go ahead and order Aperture throughout the Apple Store? I'm just starting out with post-processing after shooting JPEGS for years.

Thanks to all who reply.

With best regards, Pfreddee(Stephen)

I've not had the best luck with the included Nikon software on my Mac. I use Lightroom or Photoshop to work with NEF files. I'm sure Aperture would work fine as well but have no hands on experience.

The CD will have ViewNX on it which works fine on a Mac. Never had it crash a Mac in several years of use.
