Not the greatest images but the results were interesting for me as I get to know the lens. Wide open, with a UV filter and lens hood mounted. The sunlight was fairly bright at about 10am. I was driving in an area I'm not especially familiar with looking for images and I saw this trestle...

Did not expect these results, especially since I thought the hood would prevent it :) Good learning experience for me.

That's the biggest difference between the older Sonnar formula lenses and the Bertele- the latter was resilient to flare across the front element. I've had flare like this on my Sonnars, Jupiters, and Nikkors. Happens when direct sunlight hits at an angle, across the hood and into the lens. Like the front element acting as a prism.

That's what I was thinking, nice to understand that thought was correct. I figured I'd post these here as a sample for others to learn from as well.

OTOH, I'll need to work that trestle some other time in different light
