The BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) website is asking for photo essay submissions. They want 8-10 photos on a theme with titles and captions, and a bit of background information.

You have to know that, if you want to enter the same photos in an important contest, it is not advisable to post them on BBC, because:
"In contributing to BBC News you agree to grant us a royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to publish and otherwise use the material in any way that we want, and in any media worldwide."
You cannot sell the exclusive rights for the picture also, after submiting them to BBC.

I would be very pleased indeed if the BBC published my photos.
Yes, they do have worldwide media rights, but we know that they just want to fill a gap on their magazine section every week.
They are not about to print calendars, and make coffee mugs, and greetings cards out of my photos.

When first published a long time ago I thought, "Wow, some people all over the world are looking at my work."
