For those of you interested in slagging Leica, please don't do it here and gum up the discussion.
For people who actually have an M8, and have problems with the purple cast, read this:

This isn't perfect, but suggests (to me, anyway) that a fairly comprehensive cure may be available through firmware; if you can fix it in Photoshop, you should be able to fix it before it gets out of the camera.
