When I am out on the streets in NYC with my camera, it often strikes me how cell phones have fundamentally altered our civic behavior, and the compact (unspoken) that used to govern how you conducted yourself on the streets. As a kid, it would have been unthinkable to withdraw my attention from my surroundings in a manner that has become routine.
