I recently stumbled across a Retina II with the black rim Ektar 47mm.

Anyone have recommendations for a lens hood setup for this? I'm guessing most go with the original or a series IV adapter ring : hood setup but anything else I should be looking for?

Just get a 32 mm slip-on lens hood. It doesn't have to be made by Kodak. Just put it on when you're going to use the camera. That's the normal Retina way.

Only the later c/C and b/B models had a special plastic lens hood with bayonet mount.

I have one just like the one shown in the link, but it is a screw-in made of flexible black rubber. It says "Kodak Made in Germany" on the outside surface. I shot all my Retinas recently and was able to use the hood on the ones with the Xenon lens including the II, IIa, IIc, and the Retina Reflex 025.

As mentioned, get a slip on/push on adapter to mount your hood and filters. That way you can use drop in series filters w/ the hood. Congratulations, that is a great camera with a super sharp lens.
