is it better to set shutter speed before or after cocking the shutter on retina IIa? or that doesnt matter?

One warning -- change to 500 before you cock the shutter on Compurs. That warning has been published in a number of spots. I assume it has to do with the extra tension which you can easily feel when you change to that speed. Other than that, I don't know of any warnings or instructions on before or after. I could be wrong. I generally change before cocking because I think it is easier on the mechanism. But I could be wrong on this too. Dave

in general, I don't think it matters. EXCEPT for 1/500th, where you must set it BEFORE you cock the shutter.
