Thom Hogan has a brief article here about Sony's new Caligos sensor, still under development, which reverses the usual function of sensor wells (sensels?) to record the absence of light as maximum value (I think I got that right, but read the article). There's some interesting implications. Recommended reading if you like to ponder on what's coming down the pipleline.

Very interesting, although published on April 1st. :) Can’t seem to find any other references elsewhere...anyone else have any luck?

He's also got an article on how a spreadsheet error since 2012 means the camera market has been going in the opposite direction to what the figures have been showing ;)
