I have been to Taiwan dozens of times to Taipei, Tainan, Kaoshiung, Taichung and this type of building is very common. Do you know if this type of architecture was Japanese influenced perhaps from the 60’s? I am just curious because I see parallels in areas of Tokyo and Osaka.

hi Ray T, thanks for the 'like' button,
well, i don't have the answer, i believe it was Taiwanese style, could be influenced by Japanese, after all, Japan owned and running Taiwan for half a century (1895-1945), the nearby Taiwan Presidential Building (still used by President Tsai Ing-wen today ) was designed by Mr. Nagano 长野 宇平治 and built by Japanese.

i've been to Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo City, Okinawa ( the nearest Yonaguni Island is only 68 miles away from Taiwan ), but did not pay too much attention to their building architecture...
Thanks
