X100 review and D700 comparison photos

Smaller sensors exhibit more apparent DOF than larger ones with a lens giving an equivalent focal length. The X100 will have more apparent DOF with its 35mm equivalent lens than the D700 with a 35mm lens when focused on an object at the same distance.

Bravo!

... I'm not sure how this would work for me as I hate having to find a button with my thumb while I'm composing. Pentax allow a similar function with some dSLR lenses that allow a manual adjustment after the auto-focus has locked.

Chris,

I use this method (button AF pre-focus) exclusively with my D200/300/700 cameras. Before long your thumb just knows where to go. These days my thumb hovers over the button as soon as the camera goes to my eye.

Of course the X100 body is smaller and I'm guessing the button is smaller too compared to a DSLR. I'm optimistic the using the button to get the AF close enough for manual adjustment and switching to the EVF and the lens collar for final adjustment/confirmation will be quick and practical. We'll see.
