Happy day - finally got my ZI back from Germany! Hello beautiful. I had sent it in just after new years for a range finder alignment and repair on rewind crank. The crank was clearly a manufacturing defect and not the result user stupidity. I'm sticking with that.
2-1/2 months not so great but the price was more than reasonable (for an obvious manufacturing defect).
Now I have a new problem - I was really getting comfortable with the .85 M6. Not sure how this experience will impact which camera I pick up. Perhaps it will be whichever one isn't in for a rangefinder adjustment!

That's interesting. Not so long ago last, I also sent my ZI to Oberkochen in order to have the rewind crank repaired. Let's hope this is something we have to do every couple of years.
Best,
Alex

No, I'm pretty sure this one was user stupidity... I mean manufacturing defect. What arrow?

Sorry, I missed the irony (I read your initial post late night, on my phone). In my case, the rewind crank failed unaided. It became rougher and rougher in operation and one day it stopped working.
