Lots of nice gear for sale, not many buyers?

M prices have risen to an absurd level.
When I sold my M gear a few years back I got half of whats now asked for.
For example M-Elmarits or the odd 40mm Rokkor...

I am sure part of the reason is the demand NEX, GXR, m4/3 etc. users generate.

I agree with what others have said. Imo the prices of used leica lenses are way to high and maybe buyers are starting to realize that. If for example you put 35mm summicron for 1000$ i bet it'll go in a day

Is there a trend like a particular month or time of the year being considered the lowest selling time of the year? This could be a good time for buyers on a budget like me.

CONUS only kills most deals for me. I see quite a few items I'd like and indeed would buy but for the aforementioned restriction.

And not only old Leica glass. At least in ebay the actual 50/1.1 Nokton is offered used for >850. Official price new is <1000: The discount for used items is definitly too low!

I did grab an M6 here a couple of days ago. I think the lens are the ones expensive now. The bodies are very reasonably priced IMO.

I really don't want to offend anybody, but there are too much sellers without any history here...
Sometimes looks like few register just for business...
Where should confidence come from?

If it's a timing issue, when is the prime time? I mean, you can't be too close to Christmas, tax season is difficult, summer is vacation time . . . on and on.

if someone wants something and the price is fair the item will sell.

people are still wanting top dollar for film cameras while secretly lusting for a drf...confusing times...lenses are just stupid these days...people want them to be investment items and want to make a profit on them...i'd rather go without.

My own feeling that, at least for the U.S., the best time to offer something for sale is in spring, when people start getting back their tax refunds. When you're flush with cash, you buy stuff.

Hello Joe, you could be correct, but I have no desire in a drf at all.....I am happy with film cameras (mostly Leicas') and even though I own 3 Leicas' which is too many in my opinion (m6ttl/m2/m3) I am in the market for another m6ttl because I prefer to have my back up camera be the same as my "main camera" which is the m6ttl......the m2 and m3 are just too awesome to think of selling.......I agree with you 100% on lenses, and thankfully I am happy with all the lenses I have and don't want or need anymore lenses....

but as far as a drf goes, I am probably in the minority here, but I have no interest at all.....if I were to go digital, I would get a big Nikon or Canon with all the bells and whistles, but I don't see that happening anytime soon....

cheers, michael

Someone mentioned about the sellers with no posting history. I'm not saying that necessarily means they aren't trustworthy, but I'd rather let others test the waters with them.

Good used lenses have been fetching high prices for some time. I think it started when the M8 came out. There are a number of lenses I'd love to buy if priced lower. I'd snap up an excellent grade 50mm Summicron DR with goggles if I could find what I consider a good deal for one.

sorry, i didn't mean to infer that everyone wants a drf...but i do think the numbers are going up.

no problem, you are probably right......as it seems now, more and more drf's are showing up in the classifieds.....my guess is people are waiting for the m10.....I imagine most users of the rd1/m8/m9 are happy with them and enjoy the digital workflow.....but I am more into the "film thing".....

cheers, michael
