Hi lxmike, when I look at your picture that you’ve posted, your Leica IIIf is actually a Leica IIIf Red Dial. The black dial has a slow shutter speed on the top speed dial of 30-1, while the red dial has a 25-1 setting on the top speed dial. The IIIf red dial version has a more advanced shutter system than the IIIf black dial version. I see also, that your Leica IIIc is an early “stepper” wartime version of this model produced during 1941-42. Nice!

Sold these to return to good old fashioned DSLRs (bottom camera is a 1932 Nickel Leica I converted to II, Nickel Elmar and top is some new fangled rig for poseurs). I hate these faddish cameras.

My most used set up
1949 IIIc sharkskin with 1948 Summitar

Edit:
After posting the first quick photo I realised there's "show off" in the thread's title so I dived into the cupboards and fished out all the little extras that makes ones life more pleasant:
Original box, instructions, 1949 price list, and a bunch of 1949 leaflets to match

My 1930 model I that was converted to a model III with 1956 Elmar (and my custom film reminder in the cold shoe) and my 1941 (Leica verified that it was delivered on Oct 6 1941) model IIIc stepper converted to IIIf with 1951 (?) Canon 35 f3.2, E. Leitz filter, and Canon 35mm viewfinder.PXL_20230324_163110367.jpg

So, nobody here knows what the stiff card in the early Leica II case was for? I thought I’d be the only one here who didn’t know.
I don't no either but maybe I have an idea: Is this a flash-synchronised camera? When you remove the lens, insert the card and look into the bajonet while pushing the button and shining the flash into the camera you could check if you see the whole card illuminated by the flash and the synch beeing adjusted correctly for the bulbs at hand. This is a wild guess but it should work.

Edit: Ok, sure enough it is not a synchronised camera, taking a second look.
