M-E in-camera BW.

Interesting thread and nice images from Kofe, Helen and others.

I tried the in-camera B&W with my M9 today. It is not the ME, but same sensor and I assume same in-camera B&W options? Pretty fun to use this setting

Summicron-M 35mm ASPH., M9 Vintage B&W. No PP, images straight from camera.

I shoot a lot of "in-camera-b&w" with the M240, though I do it RAW with the "embedded-b&w profile" turned on. The camera does an OK job, and I like the results a smidge more than the default "adobe monochrome". The M-E didn't actually store the profile it used for b/w in the DNG so once you imported them it switched back to color, it was weird. With the latest M240 firmware it embeds the profile so the images stay B&W (but still retain all color information, just hidden with the profile).

I wonder what adding a color filter would do with a digital camera. I would sort of imagine that it would compensate if auto-wb were turned on, as it would assume that the light was just super strongly colored. I think to get the best of that idea you would need to set your WB manually.

A great thread though!

Went out with M-E and others :) between on-line meetings.
In camera BW, red filter on the lens, with blue high-contrast filter in LR.

Don't know why :).

ISO was set @400, I rated it as 100 and tuned via horrible-horrible M-E screen.

Today is the day with clouds and no blue sky.

Thank you David and Derek.

Good reminder about pinhole. Now it looks like my lith prints :).
I will put it back on M-E and do some prints after.
