I like any of my 35s. The CV 35 PII is microscopic, the Biogon faster and amazing in the corners with a very clean look. I have a summarit too and thats a very smooth and gentle lens with more modest contrast. In all honesty though, for docu work, the difference in the end result (print) is not much to write home about. I can work with any happily and will probably give one the chop in time, but having spares is handy as this is the one FL I cannot do without. The little CV is just amazing when one considers the cost.
35mm has been a long-time favorite focal length, starting with my v.1 Summicron, purchased new. Then the f/1.4 Nokton, f/2 Biogon ZM, Summilux ASPH, and most recently a goggled f/2.8 Summaron to use on the M2. I like them all but have been using the Biogon and Summilux the most. Another favorite "35" is the lovely f/2.8 75mm Aspheric for Pentax 67.

Yes. I don't mind the size of the lens. To achieve the speed and performance, the lens has to be of a certain minimum size - there is no free lunch. I will take the performance and will not whine about the size of the lens.

Do you guys regularly shoot with a lens hood? Do you get much vignetting with it on? I have a v.2 Summicron and I got some 'unwanted' vignetting on a couple of rolls I shot this summer and I know I had my lens hood on. Just wondering what your experience was. Thanks!

The f3.5 Summaron or Canon f2.8. Images are very similar with the Canon perhaps better to the edges.

What hood are you using, Steven, on your v.2 Summicron? I use the 12585H vented hood on my v.1 and have never seen any vignetting caused by it.

Now that I look at it...the hood could be it, Doug.
It's 12538 and it appears to be for the 50mm Summicron.
I never gave it a thought because I bought the lens and hood together.

don't need hoods on the 35 biogons. Literally. Never used one on my F2 and never had flare.

Had a 35/2 ZM biogon and just sold it. After owning an M-hex 90mm f/2.8 I want to try any of the 35's that Konica has made: the 35 UC, 35 M Hex, and the 35 M hex in LTM.

That isn't to say that the 35/2 biogon is bad -- in fact I adore it! Great lens. It was, however, my first lens. I owned it for almost 4 years, and I wanted to try something new.

I've had the 35/2 asph cron, V4 cron, and prefer the V3 cron.
For summilux 35s, or overall best 35s, it is a cleaned 35/1.4 pre-asph. No distortion, no focus shift, no harsh bokeh, selectable glow/no glow, no vignetting, multiple hood options, compatible hood with cron of same era (v3 and 12504 hood).
You just can't beat the 35/1.4 pre-asph lux.

Hard to decide. My all time favorite was my first 35mm lens: a Konica Hexanon f2. Here's what it does in B&W (M4-2)

Konica L-Hexanon 35/2.0. The true siamese twin of the Hexar AF lens.
Derived from the W.Nikkor 35/1.8. Mine came without a hood, so I made my own from an empty filter ring and a step up ring, outside paint removed with sand paper.
