Your favorite 35mm glass?

1.) f/2.8 85mm Sonnar for the Rolleiflex Sl 35

2.) f/4.5 21mm Biogon for the Zeiss Ikon Contax

3.) f/4 50mm Distagon for the Rolleiflex SL 66

4.) f/3.5 40mm Tessar for the Rollei 35

5.) f/2.8 40mm Sonnar for the Rollei 35 RF

I am a huge fan of the ZF lenses, but perhaps for a slightly different reason.

While I use a pretty full compliment of Nikon glass on a D3 & D700, those AF lenses are primarily for shooting weddings where every shot has to be in focus ... 14-24, 24-70, 50/1.4AFS, 85/1.4, 100/2.8VR Macro, and the incomparible 200/2VR.

But on my F6 shooting true B&W film, it's the Zeiss lenses all the way. The contrast of the Zeiss optics makes B&W really sing. I outfitted the F6 with a split microprism screen and magnifier which increased the speed and focus hit ratio to almost no missed shots even with street shooting. ZF 18, 25/2.8, 28/2 (amazing!), 50/2 Macro(also amazing!), 85/1.4 (stunning!) and 100/2 macro (mine is buttery smooth) ... I have the VC 180/4 APO for tele work. The F6/Zeiss outfit basically replaced my film Leica M & R.

This combination is one of my favorite 35mm set-ups that I've ever used.

My favorite 35mm glass is the one attached to my Contax T3 (Sonnar 35/2.8):

Presently the W-Nikkor 3.5cm F1.8 LTM for it's versatile speed and medium contrast for super B&W details (using it with Epson R-D1S) and vintage color look. I simply love this lens.

Past, CV 35/1.2 Asph & CV 35/2.5 PII. Loved the color rendering of the 35/1.2. Truely remarkable optical engineering and price point. The 35/2.5 was So-So. Nothing in particular, that made me say WOW...
Nokton 35mm f1.2 ... it's big and heavy with a great focusing action ... if there's ever been a more significant 35mm lens released by any manufacturer for such a premium price I'd be surprised!

Current collection:

35mm Elmar (f3.5 - 1936)
35mm Summaron (f3.5 - 1954)
35mm Summicron 1st version (f2 - 1968)
35mm Summicron 5th version asph (f2 - 2003)

Currently using most the Summicron first version, because it is such fine & smooth handling and very nice for b&w with that vintage look. Recent shots:
