And you've got the 28 Biogon as well! How is the grip with #4008? I find that #4034 makes holding the camera much nicer.

Sweet looking sebastel!
I have to have a grip on this one on the weekend ;-)
Thinking about having my still broken M7 overhauled and changing the cover to this.
Is it very close to the original Leica Vulcanite (M3 era)?

i cannot compare to the #4034, but so far, i find it very pleasant. looks and feels a lot like the old vulcanite (like M4, M4-P). it's a big improvement over the original slip-wrapper.
as for the ZM: i use it already for quite a while & i was extremely pleased with it - until the old summilux showed me a handful of "mandler magic". now i am on the search for a similarly gifted 28. but since the ZM is such a nice imager, that's a relaxed and laid-back quest.

Strange, eh ?
Everybody seems preaching ASPH lenses, while some seem to have reached zen with the odd ones.

You prefer the skateboard griptape covering?
No, I just chose the lowest cost covering knowing it would come off immediately in favor of Aki Asahi's real leather.

ASPH lenses are overrated, I much prefer the Mandler designs that came before them. I still have single 24, 35, 50 and 75 in ASPH versions but I've sold off all my others.Strange, eh ?

I see your point but have not experienced this on my MP. Maybe the base is a bit tighter on the newer cameras? My MP with the Griptac is 10 years old now though.Good (better) choice. The GripTac is nice but I found out the hard way that it is not very suitable for a Leica M. It is less thick than vulcanite, which is part of the light baffling of the bottom plate with an M camera (or a Barnack).
I had a GripTac covered M3 and it regularly had light leaks along the bottom plate since the GripTac wasn't thick enough to seal the light out.

Now add a BP hot shoe, BP shutter release collar, a black frame counter (this particularly makes me twirly :bang:, especially, as I can't have it on my film Ms) and vulcanite covering as a final touch, making it one of my dream cameras (don't forget the Leicavit though).
Now add a black paint rigid Summicron …
Anybody has a photo of this very camera?
Hey, that's my camera!!!
Sadly only in my dreams.....

Most beautiful camera since a few pages!
I love this look! Please fill us in about the BP rigid Summicron - is it original 70's issue or a late special version … ?
That black film counter drives me crazy - sooooooo beautiful!

Whats the finish on the hot shoe?
Looks like black chrome. Does leica make em in balck paint?
No, they don't. Shutter button collar is black chrome also.
Black frame counter is from M6 Millenium.
