The ARMY OF THE DEAD are eating this $5800 (or more) 35/1.5 Canon RF lens ALIVE!

What's about my Canon Tilt & Shift 2.8-35mm? Film producers should be interested in its ability to create very special effects.

It's all too rich for my blood. Guess I will have to stick with my Canon 1.8/35, 2.8/35, and 3.5/35 lenses. I feel so deprived, not.

Raid, is there a matching lens hood for the Canon 35mm f1.5? I typically use a Canon W-50 hood on my 35/1.5, along with the original Canon filter, although I am not sure that the hood is necessary given the recessed front lens group on this lens. That said, I think that this lens tends to flare significantly wide open, but flare is somewhat controlled at f2 and not an issue at f 2.8 and smaller. Addendum, not sure if you are being facetious, or not.

I think that I need to do a comparison between my Canon 35/1.5 and Nikon 35/1.8 at equal apertures. I imagine that such a test has been done before, but I have not researched this online yet

I don’t know. All I know from the seller of the lens hood that this lens hood was for his 35/1.5 that he sold:

I have both lenses and I prefer the Nikon.

I cannot imagine having this lens and not selling it for this insane amount of cash. This will be short lived I would think.

I was surprised that the recent auction ended at $9900, given that there are at least two other Canon 35/1.5 lenses in similar condition on ebay with buy it now price of around $6000.

Bidding war heated stupidity can do that.

I'm more curious as to what prices will be once the current bidding frenzy eases. $6,000+ is nuts and won't last. Maybe a $1,000 is this lens true value?

We don't know if such "sales" are fake or true.

I have sold hundreds of items on eBay and I would not know how to do a fake auction. I mean sure you can have a friend bid it up for you, but still someone won. They might not pay I guess, but why bother? Ok so you do not get $10000, but even $5000 is crazy. I would have to try if I had this lens. You can start bidding at $4000 and go from there unless you truly love this lens.

If I owned that lens, the only thing that could stop me from putting it on the market would be if it had been given to me by my father, on his deathbed, as he made me swear that I would cherish it forever. Short of that, it would already be up for sale.

Just sold mind for $4K :). Had some shock having bought this lens 10 years ago for a bit less. It’s really cinematic and gives atmosphere in bundles, but I’m happy to get the profit margin I was able to secure. I could have gotten more too if I had accepted offers that came later, but this puts a nice cushion into my camera purchase fund.

Can someone explain to me what the big deal is about the 35mm f/1.5? I saw the film. I thought the effects with those Canon lenses were interesting, but ultimately "meh." When I owned a bunch of M39 Canon RF lenses years ago, my impression was that they certainly performed well enough but their primitive coatings were particularly unpleasant for anything in color. At that time, Nikon (blue-ish) and Konica (amber-ish) both seemed to do better with color. I mean, you could buy a V1 Summilux all day for less than 4-5K. Maybe that would make a nice cine conversion.
