Classic comparison - Summicron DR vs Nokton 1.5

As I am browsing old threads in anticipation of my Amedeo adapter to arrive, I noticed a slight error by the OP in their description of the Nokton lens: it is not a Sonnar derivative, but a double Gauss design as identified by several sources on the web (source in German).

It seems to have a distinct flavor of "funk" wide open, as does the Sonnar. From what I can tell by looking at images the look is different and quite unique, though. I am excited to try it out.

Classic Voigtlander fans have long claimed Voigtlander had better classic lenses than Leica or Zeiss,
but of course Zeiss and Leica fans disagreed.

Yes, a highly subjective discussion as usual. From the comparison above it seems that the Nokton is considerably softer away from center at f2, which I find surprising given that the Nokton is stopped down at this point, and given its reputation.

I am glad I didn’t spend good money on the Nokton when I already have the other. I don’t see much reason to have both. At least I am not so into nuisances.
