Agree fully, 40mm is the perfect standard lens for the Epson. Further I use the 25mm Biogon: you can use it without external viewfinder: just take the whole view of the viewfinder (so byond the 28mm framelines)!
Another vote for the CV 40 1.4. But beware! I bought it used and had to send it to Don for a relube. He told me they used cheap grease which dries up fast.
BTW be careful with used stuff. I bought it from a well known lug member. He was OK about it but never admitted the error was his for selling it to me that way. Anyhow he picked up most (not all) of the repair costs. Make sure you really know who you are dealing with.

I know it's an old topic but i want to ask if anyone uses the 28/2.8 m-rokkor. On my M8.2 it seems to be the perfect choice/combo. I'm currently switching to an R-D1 and will slso buy 40/2 cron/m-rokkor and i'm wondering if the 28 will keep the wonderful color rendition and sharpness on R-D1...

Sure the M-Rokkor 28/2.8 works fine on the R-D1.
Was my favorite 28/2.8 before i bought the Elmarit asph.
Beware that the Rokkor has often white spots on the internal coating of the lens though.
Couple of R-D1 + M-Rokkor 28/2.8 pics below.
