I'm sorry for your distress even though I don't share it .
Clearly you must do what you feel is correct.

Indeed. I remember reading that story a decade ago and yet however-many billions of people have joined FB since then. Maybe they missed it the first time? Or I have a better memory than they do.

I always laugh when people describe Facebook as 'a fun website that brings people together' (including Facebook themselves). It couldn't be further from the truth. It's systematically splitting people into different groups and keeping them in their own isolated social media worlds, only exposed to the thoughts and ideas they are already interested in. It's dividing, not uniting.
True. I am on a bunch of formerly-busy forums which are dead now, and always whenever they ask "why", the answer is because most of the traffic has moved over to Facebook. This comes up a lot on some classic car forums I am on... When a formerly-busy forum with convenient archive and search features dies and is replaced by a dozen or more Facebook groups, some overlapping and some competing with each other, all with horrible archiving and search functions... Its a net loss for everyone I think.
Even this forum. Is it as busy as it was five or ten years ago? I think not.
