I have a Contax at last

There is also a Zeiss Planar 35mm f3.5, and a Zeiss jenra orthometar 35mm
Both of these are harder to find, but may be less expensive.
The 3.5cm nikkor is also excellent.
Ironically, because both the Planar and Orthometar were originally intended to be more economical than the Biogons, they tend to me more expensive due to their rarity. I have both, and they are good lenses, especially the Planar since it is coated and the Orthometar isn't. For economy today, I think you are more likely to get a deal on a Nikkor than anything from Zeiss. The key is to be patient--Ebay usually has anything you want at an "aspirational" buy-it-now price, but most of these lenses will show up at more reasonable prices if you can wait.

I have a Biogon 35mm f2.8 off ebay. I cannot use it for a while as I'm in Switzerland and the lens is in England but we should be getting together in October sometime.

It was you who beat me by half-a-day to that lens. This may call for 90mm. Sonnars at dawn. (If I could arise that early). That is the second which I have missed. But then it took me five shots to get my 'red scale' Elmar. I feel a Poincare Recurrence coming on.

I feel for you old bean (but not too much).

Here is a photo I shot with a iia using the biogon and Ikoblitz flash a few years ago at a music show. The biogon is a clean original that has never been serviced so it surely is not as sharp as it should be.

Thanks for putting those up. Very 1960's feel to them.

Long chuckles............
Thank you David. Looking forward to seeing photos from your iia and Biogon.

David L.

It may be a while. I will probably wait until I return to the UK to get them developed and as I said the 35mm is waiting for me there.
