My New Sony Nex-3 Body!

Played with the Nex-3 at BestBuy last night, and I don't like the dedicated E lenses, but the body is really cool! I decided that I would like to have one, to use with my LTM Canon, Leitz M, Minolta MC Rokkors, and my wife's Canon EOS EF-S lenses.

One of the auctions I was watching dropped the price this morning for a new-in-the-box Black Body, everything but the lenses. At $359 Plus $7 shipping I pulled the trigger. And went to RainbowImaging on the auction site, and ordered Canon EOS, Minolta MC, M39 LTM, and Leica M-mount adpters, for $23.95 each.

Need some extra batteries and cards, and a $19.95 Hoodman from B&H, and I'll be set. Great Fun Ahead! The Nex-3 Rocks!:p:)

Congrats on the new cam! I've had fine success with generic batteries, but use at your own risk!

You may also consider the Clearviewer. I've been using one on the NEX-5, and it is a great EVF alternative.

BTW, they don't make a case that I've seen for the NEX-3, but, for those looking for a great NEX-5 case, check out those by Ciesta. I've owned a couple half cases, and this company got it right by leaving a space to get to the tilt up LCD on the side. Very high quality:

I also have a HorusBennu case, but you'll probably upgrade eventually, because the real leather half cases don't get as sweaty on the fingers, and they seem to fit a bit better, in the case of my NEX-5.

Years ago I bought a bunch of these Sony CyberShot cases, mainly for lenses, guitar pedals, hoods, etc., but now my Nex with 16/2.8 fits very well, it's the same bag I've used for my Fuji P&S's, and about a 1/3rd as small as my smallest D40x case with single lens, so I can carry an APS-C with me anywhere!

Has stretch pockets on the sides for batteries, sd cards, and an inner pocket inside for more sdcards or whatever. It's a tight fit with the plastic back cover, so at some point, I might fit an iphone type adhesive covering over the lcd for a looser fit.

Here is a pic of the Ciesta that I have for the NEX-5 (Italian leather, hand made in Korea.) Quality wise, it falls somewhere in between Mr. Zhou and Luigi's, although probably very close to Luigi. The best thing about it, as I mentioned earlier, is that there is a notch/cutaway for the LCD, so you can grab the side of the LCD for tilt purposes:

Hello:

The jtec shoe fits the Nex 5 but does not fit the Nex 3. jtec appears to never have looked at the nex 3 as they claim the shoe fits both.

Hopefully, Sony will make the shoe to their Nex optical finder available as an in box accessory .

FPJ

Does anybody make a cold shoe that fits the Nex-3? BTW Thank you for the above information.

Canon EOS Nex Porno.

Canon EOS Nex Porno.

Canon EOS EFS 10-22mm on Nex-3. Definately extreme Ultra-Wide. Amazing quality, and lightweight, but bulky rig.

This lens belongs to the wife, I might be able to borrow it (sometimes!) so I bought the EOS adapter for that reason.

Just uploaded the newest V3.0 Firmware update from Sony. Easy to do.

Minolta MC Rokkor Fisheye 16mm F2.8 on Nex-3.

I really like this lens, and it works just great on the Nex-3. I walked all through the local botanical garden today, and never changed lenses.

Still getting used to the V3.0 Firmware upgrade, but it's working well.

What is a good street price in the USA for the NEX-3?

$499 with the 16mm lens and $549 with the 18-55mm seem to be the going rate (@ Amazon and @ Sony Style), so any legitimate prices below that would be good deals as of today.

It seems that getting the 16mm lens is better than buying the camera alone.

Do you lose AF with other type of lenses with the NEX?
