i get more headaches with film vs digital arguments

I think x vs y threads are great stuff myself because I do learn something from them. If I see a thread that doesn't interest me then I just don't open it. Isn't that what a free society is all about?

there is a difference in how a member versus a moderstor views a forum.
those threads that may be a more 'provocative' that a member can 'choose' to ignore are the very ones that a moderator needs to pay particular attention to.

i am coming very close to my 25k post and i think it just might be my last as a mod.

Wow that is bad, like that issue where Superman lost his powers with exposure to that white kryptonite stuff

I take your point. I skip over them for the most part. Anyway, they are not as interesting as they were since Bill Mattock stopped posting - I didn't always agree with him but always enjoyed his posts.

This continued debate (if that is what it really is) is one of the few dull aspects of photography - let's move on and just take more pictures, with whatever type of camera does it for us

if they let Lulu Rozencrantzs back in - it would make things a bit more interesting! :p

totally, and even as a regular member, any forum starts to sound like a scratched record after a while.

I like it when it becomes a bit disruptive.

Film & digital photography are equally boring.

Both can be terribly exciting.

It has something to do with the photos.

Just make a sticky thread called "Film or Digital: Which is Better, and Why?"

That will act like a tar-pit for all the people who can't get enough of the topic. :)

I actually enjoy the digital verses film threads and invariably read all them from front to back ... and I never get sick of them.

I think it's time to step away from the 'mod squad' Joe and try and appreciate the forum for what it is ... a community with ups, downs and recidivistic tendencies ... and the occasional good blue of course.

I think it's fine warts and all and I wouldn't go anywhere else if you paid me to!

This is the part where nuking the thread with about 100 img commands would mess up everyones cache.

I have no issues with most topics that come up on RFF. The thing that does bug me, is condescending posts. These posters' only purpose seems to be to demonstrate their obvious intellectual (and photographic/artistic, but mainly intellectual) superiority over the rest of us. If this happens to actually be the case, then I wish they'd either add positively to RFF by starting "better" threads, or find somewhere else that is worthy of their presence rather than negatively participating in those threads that are beneath them. There seems to be more intellectual posturing and one-upmanship here lately as opposed to sincere discussion. Debate of the topic seems not to be enough for some, who attack and belittle the person offering an opinion rather than the opinion. This creates an unpleasant atmosphere, and isn't at all necessary or desirable, IMO. YMMV

I don't really care how people create photos, but sometimes it's difficult not to respond when someone denigrates one method simply because he works with a different one.

Why on earth do people feel the need to evangelise about some method or other, I simply won't put up with intolerance. :irony-smiley:

PS sorry joe, even I get sucked in some times

Another case of not what is stated, but how it is stated.

Some people state their case in such a way that invites argument. Agreeing with them is not possible because they "dare you to disagree."

And as long as that behavior is tolerated, there will be arguments, ill-will, and constant fire-wars..

I agree. Some people on here seem to take themselves too seriously and get off on by acting high and mighty.
