FSU Photography Contest 2010 Rules

Too many double negatives for me here, do you mean that only kit manufactured, or at least in production, BEFORE 1991 is to be used?

I think it's a bit *teleologic* ;-)

Dear Mick -- you shall simply use a gear made before the "end" of the Soviet Union (1991/Dec).

1991 is appointed for these reasons:

"On December 21, 1991, eleven of the former socialist republics declared in Alma-Ata (with the 12th republic – Georgia – attending as an observer) that with the formation of the Commonwealth of Independent States the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ceases to exist."

Then, the Soviet Union was "(d)isestablished December 26, 1991" -- I would complete: "according to public international law (in the sense of law of nations)"

i just ordered an excellent rated fed-2(b) from fedka. this contest is toast! bwahahahahahahahah!

really, i'm just fired up about getting my hands - finally - on one these little cameras. got a j-8 and i-50 already in hand that i use on my bessa r ... :)

I like the idea but my reading of the rules is that posting of photos begins May 1 and runs through May 31, while the photos may be taken at any time in the year 2010 (rule no. 6).

In other words, shoot between Jan. 1 and May 31, post between May 1 and May 31.

Voting begins on [not stated but seems logical] June 1 and ends on June 14.

That about right?

I'll try to get in!! And as a tribute to the good old times, I'll use Ferrania film...as one of the soon to be extinct. I have some, thanks to Mauro. ;)

A friend emailed this poem to me today and I immediately thought of this thread:

"Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
In Soviet Russia,
Poem writes you"

Yuri shipped my FED-2(b) today. Boy, oh boy, I hope it gets here Saturday. My J-8 and I-50 are barking in the drawer right now ...

Nah, I like the challenge. My only full FSU kit is a battered Zorki 4 with a lowly rigid I-50. I don't even have a take-up spool yet, and the lens mount needs to be shimmed. Then I'll find out if the dang thing is even light tight.

If we make it FSU lenses, I'll just pop the Helios 103 on the Contax and head out. Where's the fun in that?
