Leica ME?

Why doesn't Leica have Cosina build an inexpensive digital M body? A digital CL? 18 mp FF, manual exposure and focus, no bells and whistles. They'd sell a bunch of them.

Would they? Also, no bells or whistles? Isn't that what the M9 already is?

Just so. They should do what apple does with the iPhone. Bring out the new model and decrement the current one to "budget" status.

It would be prudent to bear in mind that Apple sells exponentially more phones than Leica sells cameras. They also enough resources to rival many world governments. Apple's Products are also largely tech/programming-based, which is still a field experiencing massive levels of rapid growth. Leica isn't exactly known for its innovation.

Leica will cut costs by using an embedded version of Windows ME for the Leica ME.

Instead of sapphire screens, Windows will provide at least one new blue screen for every camera, every day.
