M9 Alive and ....well- Post Your Pics Here!

Here are a few boats "up on the hard" for the winter. The fishing boat costs money to be there for rent and not generating income. The pleasure boats see little use here in the winter. There is little pleasure in the cold and rainy weather when you are out on the water. This is our winter weather. November until April.

The Oregon Responder, distinguished by never seeing service. This boat tows a large barge for oil spill remediation. We have not seen it go to work since it showed up here over ten years ago, thankfully.

"Ma, call the doctor, he's doing those trees again." ;o) This is a great time of year for the moss on the trees. You do not need bayous and Cajun culture, you need a lot of moisture. We have that. I took a ride down one of my favorite side roads today, Stringtown Road, and found that the trees after weeks of drenching rain have seen their mosses explode. Strap yourselves in for another run of "Mossy Trees." LOL

Street photography around here is difficult this time of year. If you are not dashing between vehicle and building you are "out in it" in rain gear. Here are some folks offloading their catch today. There are some slickered folks on the boat's decks. This is winter street photography here in this neck of the woods. ;o)

The Bowpicker. It is a type of fishing boat used in this area (https://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/bowpickers/). And in Astoria it is also a fish and chips take out restaurant. It changed hands a year or so ago and the fries are better but the fish has slipped. The fish is fresh caught tuna and despite being described as beer battered it is not. This is how it looks in winter when closed. In summer you get to wait up to an hour for your order: fish and chips and a soda or water. That's it.
