More New Toys. 100 F2 RF Canon & New (2nd) Nex3.

More New Toys. 100 F2 RF Canon & New (2nd) Nex3.

The 100mm F2 Canon just arrived from Japan. Very Sweet.

The new Nex-3 #2 is now fully upgraded, ready for final accessorizing.

Brown halfcase and popup-hood are headed my way, from the Orient.

Magnifier is here ready to install on the popup hood, so both cameras will match.

A few more 8 gig cards, 25mm Canon, and I think I'm -finally- done.

Canon RF 85mm F1.5 wideopen Nex3 ISO 3200.

Canon RF 85mm F1.5 wideopen Nex3 ISO 3200.

I like this combo, I'm alternating between two bodies very quickly.

Shot over 500 frames last night, between the two. No film at all.

It's fun.

I have a copy of the 85/1.5 on the way, late version. I was trying to find a helios 40, but finally gave up.

I have the 85/1.9 and the 85/1.8, the latter is crazy sharp, but I wanted something "atmospheric", like the helios or even the LTM 50/1.2.

It will be very interesting. :)

I really like my 85mm F1.5

One reason why I think it has suffered a bad rap, is that it is not easy to use. I mean, the DOF at F1.5 is really paper-thin, so you must focus really carefully. It is surprisingly sharp sometimes.

About like using the 50mm F1.2, in the sense that sometimes it is amazing the photos you can get with it. Nothing else like having F1.5, too. Everybody else is shooting flash.

I'm pretty excited, here is the one:

http://www.rangefinderforum.com/pho...roduct/29145/title/reduced-elmar-c-90mm/cat/2

Robin was very nice and brought the price to where I could just afford it (around 500 shipped),

In 1954 the 1.2 went for 250USD and the 85/1.5 for 238USD :)

funny enough, KevinCameras has em priced higher than nearly any Canon Lens, at around a grand. We all know how high he is for much of this stuff

I know you inspired, or I suspect you inspired bennyng to grab one also, and you have some very nice shots up from it on flickr.

Here is one you would like:

at 270 grams, the Pen-F 42/1.2 is the lightest superspeed that will cover the sensor, it's also quite sharp at F8, much sharper than the canon ltm 50/1.2, basically everywhere, but the canon does better bokeh.

It's also a flare monster, but still:

Needed ISO 3200, even with the F1.5 Canon RF lens.
