A couple from this summer to remember the warm days and remind me that the little Sony is a wonderful travel partner.

Great filtered light in a neat brew bar we stumbled upon in our travels. The Sony sensor did an admirable job capturing the delicate light. These two shots are both OOC JPGs.

Just got an Rx100M3 - impressed with the IQ but I want step zoom in P mode - how do you dedicate control ring function?

Just got an Rx100M3 - impressed with the IQ but I want step zoom in P mode - how do you dedicate control ring function?

Here's an extract from the RX100 Mk3 manual (section 42):-
Zoom Func. on Ring
Sets the zoom functions when using the control ring to change zoom scales. The settings for [Zoom Func. on Ring] are valid only when auto-focusing.

1. MENU → (Custom Settings) → [Zoom Func. on Ring] → desired setting.

Menu item details
Standard (default setting): Zooms in/out smoothly when you operate the zoom by turning the control ring. Step: Zooms in/out at certain angle steps when you operate the zoom by turning the control ring.

Note
In the following situations, the zoom function activates as if [Zoom Func. on Ring] is set to [Standard], even if it is set to [Step].

When using the W/T (zoom) lever to change the zoom scale.

When recording movies.

When using zoom functions other than the optical zoom.

When the shooting mode is set to something other than [Intelligent Auto] or [Superior Auto], assign the [Zoom] function to the control ring before using the control ring.
Hope this helps.

Too bad Sony never supported this little cam after launch, prefering to move on to mk2 and mk3. My original version still churns out great images, but I wish it were made by Fuji and not Sony...

Anyway, enough grumbling! Here are some images from the latest trip.

Excellent! The RX100 is just remarkable, isn't it? And your sister has a good eye for a photo...:)

It still has its uses, for sure. I could just hand it off to my sister (who like most of the world only shoots with her phone) in "Intelligent Auto" mode, and ask her to just snap off a few, and know that I'd get usable results, even in low light. :)
