Night Photography

Great shot Chris! I tried the same technique myself, earlier this year (except on a tripod):

Wow that ferris wheel is awesome. Love how the lights formed those little squares! I assume you used a much longer exposure than I did to get that effect? I used 1/15 for mine, cause thats about as long as I can usually handhold. Didn't have my tripod.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the nice words! Yes, I think it must have been 30 seconds, which from memory is the longest shutter speed on the R8 that I used. Obviously the person in front was using a long shutter speed on her shot too! Yours is pretty darn good for 1/15 hand held!

Here are a few older shots by me in Shanghai at night:

@ cnphoto , that newstand photograph is outstanding. What film was that?

thanks, Tri-X (Arista Prem 400) shot at 1250/1600 and dev'd in Rodinal 1:50, 32 minutes at roughly 15-17 degC with a VERY gentle agitation cycle (10 inversions initially, then 5 inversions every 5 minutes).

It's my new 'go-to' film and dev combo, for 3200 I increase time to a little over 40 minutes. there has been a few threads on here about this combo.

Here's a bigger (poor quality) scan.
