Voigtlander Nokton 50mm F1 ASPH

My guess is once the reviews come in and the results are as hoped then many will be offloading their fast glass for it...alot will be on the secondhand market...maybe grab a bargain

I tend to try things first-hand, get odd results, look for the cause. The 50/1.1 is a real "Rodney Dangerfield" lens. I've had mine for over 10 years now. Never bothered to convert the Canon 50/0.95 to Leica mount as it is so good.

Funny how theres difference of opinion with that lens. This guys thinks it's as wonderful as sliced bread.

Matthieu Stern has a balance perspective I feel.

I guess the new f1.0 will offer more improvements from the f1.1 But given CV has a few fast lenses now in the bag I'm expecting this new one will be stellar from continuing iterative improvements. Can wait for your reviews and others!

A Leica Noctilux at a discount price? :)
Maybe not.
The CV 50/1.1 and 50/1.2 will most likely drop in cost.
The CV 50/1 will not impact the cost of the cheap 7Art lens, say.

The DJ Optical 0.95/50 (TTArtisan) seems to have dropped from $755 to $650 or so, and the DJ Optical 1.1/50mm (7Artisans) is $318 ...

I a
lso read somewhere that Leica is working on a new f/1 Noctilux...

I'm intrigued and optimistic, but I think I'll wait for the initial deliveries and real-life reports before pulling the trigger myself.

Interesting to note, I bought my first f/1 Noctilux in around 1998 for $1,500. I miss those days!

About that time I purchased a new chrome 4th 35mm Summicron for the then staggering price of $999. Ha, ha, should've bought a wheelbarrow full of them.

Lenses that used to be regarded as "Grab Bag Junk" now sell for $500 and up. Wollensak Raptars- used to find in the Junk Box for a few $'s.

I have a couple of lenses that have shot up 10x and more since I bought them. My problem- I've worked in a place with the word "Optical Sciences" in the name with some engineers that started in WW-II. Hard to let go of items I know are of landmarks of optics.

Very true. Same with Rolex. You could make a small fortune with a box of unworn Submariners.

I have placed my order for a CV 50/1.0, so I am just waiting for this lens to arrive to me one day when it is available. I am interested in using it wide open for many images, first. I wonder if the OFF is different from the same situation with the CV 50/1.1. What am I getting that is "better"? I am curious.

I sure hope so. I never got along well with the CV 50mm f/1.1 - especially wide-open. I owned three copies over about a two year period and each didn't fail to disappoint.
